Transonic back in business

Recently my friend Josh moved to New York and back in business. So... Transonic is up again! I met Josh in a tour that took place in Romania last summer in which Josh sang with his group "Estate". I was fascinated by their performances, a combination of DJ and live music, but mostly I was amazed by their skills in the use of musical instruments because they play several instruments. All the guys who participated in the tournament and came from the U.S.have been amazing. And I remember the band outside of the Estate Band... Switzelind band, Mike Dena Band with Sean Macaulay, Anthony Williams and Adam Ableman who sponsored and organised the event, saxophonist, flautist and percussionist Rick Condit, which have performed along the great Luiza Zan and guitarist Alex Man both from Romania, and last but not least, Alex Codoreanu, one of the greatest physicist / astronomer / mathematician guitarist from this planet. So.. let Josh tell us a few words about him and Transonic...

What is Transonic?
I'm Josh Johnson founder and principal of the multi-faceted production team Transonic. I work with a small network of talented people who specialize in creating custom music, sound design, graphic design, and video editing for various media. We work directly with clients to make their projects broadcast-ready. In addition to creating custom music, we recently compiled a large library of songs which are ready for placement. We are a small, effective team.


What's New?
We are currently working on several projects including an hour-long documentary about an international music tour through Romania. Check out the Synergy Tour trailer on our website.


Also, we have just finished compiling a song catalog that we're very proud of. This collection from various bands and musicians is available for placement in commercial and feature media. The entire catalog is available for download for free on the "Music" page of the Transonic website. Please contact us for leasing details.


Finally, I've recently relocated from Minneapolis to New York. We will continue our current relationships and are excited to grow with our new East Coast relationships.

Emisiune in direct radio/tv cu invitat special Mike Godoroja, emisiune prezentata de Florian Lungu.

Un inceput frumos de stagiune pentru Big Band-ul Radio ce a marcat si aniversarea a 83 de ani de la primul semnal transmis in eter de catre Radio Romania. 

Urmatorul concert din 21 noiembrie il va avea ca invitat pe chitaristul de jazz Alex Man.

Un eveniment mult asteptat in acest an si prezentat pe scena Salii Palatului de catre criticul de arta si cunoscut realizator de emisiuni radio si tv Florian Lungu.

Pat Metheny a prezentat publicului proiectul "Orchestration" alaturi de Larry Grenadier (acustic bass) si Bill Stewart(tobe). Trebuie stiut ca proiectul a fost conceput prin utilizarea unor instrumente mecanice, actionate electronic, construite chiar de Pat Metheny.

Trupa Night Passage este formata din cativa instrumentisti din Serbia si un foarte bun si vechi prieten pe nume Razvan Slama al carui oras de resedinta este Drobeta Turnu Severin.


Acum multi ani Razvan imi trimetea compozitiile lui, cele compuse si inregistrate "noaptea sub patura"... Pentru multi ani a condus o trupa de foarte buni muzicieni pe care am avut placerea sa-i ascult si aplaud in mai multe randuri in concerte sustinute in Semenic sau Turnu Severin. Trupa se numea "Prima Linie". Din pacate locul inchis, mentalitatile ce inca dainuie din vremuri apuse in astfel de orase i-au tinut foarte departe de lumea muzicala. Trupa lor, dupa foarte multi ani de colaborare... s-a destramat. In ciuda varstei Razvan iaca a gasit putere sa-si continue visul, si il admir mult pentru asta. Am sperat mereu sa vina in Bucuresti sa cante, fiindca sunt sigur ca publicul de aici o sa-l primeasca foarte bine. Si uite ca... pentru prima oara... cu noua formula, "Night Passage",  aduce in Bucuresti cantecele acelea de care vorbeam. Cantecele sunt compuse de Razvan in perioada 1982 - 1987.  Nu s fost o seara de cover-uri... ci o seara in care un artist a prezentat cu ajutorul colegilor de trupa o perioada a vietii lui... anii '80, asa cum au trecut ei prin mintea tanarului de atunci Razvan Slama. In ciuda faptului ca toate piesele compuse de Razvan au si versuri concertul a fost unul instrumental cu orchestratii originale croite in stilul jazz rock si progresiv. Frumos!


Seara a fost onorata de prieteni de seama din lumea muzicii... A.G. Weinberger, Nicu Patoi, Rareş Totu, Sorin Romanescu.

Razvan Slama a fost si promotorul, organizatorul unui festival de muzica (rock, jazz, folk...)... ajutand zic eu mult trupele tinere in demersul lor artistic. Este vorba de doua festivale concurs internationale ce au avut loc in Semenic si Turnu Severin.

A hard day's work to compose these songs for the soundtrack of the movie REM by Doris Ciortan, it was very urgent to finish editing the film. Not only the composition but also mounting sound track ... dialogues, noises, music, efx. Fortunately everything was finished in time and we ran to another city for the projection. I mixed here almost all the pieces made ​​by me, but not all entered in the soundtrack.

Yesterday I finished composing the music and designed the soundtrack for the short / medium film 'REM' directed by Doris Ciortan and filmed by Adriana Craciunescu (DOP).

The premiere takes place tomorrow in the town of  Eforie Nord, near to the Black Sea, together with those who worked on this film. 

After that, Doris goes to Germany for an emergency surgery.

I used a "Irish Tin Whistle" (six-holed woodwind instrument / brass tubing) and an "Irish Bouzouki" (four course/eight string)... and a lot of improvisation.

RIVER OF FORGETFULNESS - Greek Song by Marius G.Mihalache

(piano version of an old composition of mine, with Greek influences).

Drinking from the river Lethe ("forgetfulness" or "oblivion") aused complete forgetfulness. Some ancient Greeks believed that souls were made to drink from the river before being reincarnated, so they would not remember their past lives.

The Rivers of Hades

In Greek mythology, Styx (Στυξ) is a river which formed the boundary between Earth and the Underworld, Hades. It circles Hades nine times. The rivers Styx, Phlegethon, Acheron and Cocytus all converge at the center of Hades on a great marsh. The other important rivers of Hades are Lethe and Eridanos.


N.A. Originally this song was born from an improvisation. where I used harmonies from the romantic period of music. (composed by me as a classical guitar style). In that time a Greek friend gave me a call. I am born in Romania, but it seems that one of my grandfathers was Greek. Somehow I felt the need to write some music with Greek influence. So ... I altered the musical range (mode) in which I composed that song for classical guitar. Beethoven and his predecessors certainly left us an ocean of inspiration in the zone of cult music. (I I think about music as universal drawn ... notation system, tone / semitone, ... rules of composition, and other things that often compel our imagination). But the ocean is alive for other reasons, in our case, secular music, traditional music versus cult music. I have no idea from where it comes this music... but sometimes I feel so. Thank you for listening.

Poze facute intr-un moment (ultimul moment) in care eu m-am simtit in pielea mea, unul din acele momente in care aparatul foto nu mai asculta de regulile sau principiile invatate, ci doar de o bucurie launtrica... ca a unui copil in fata necunoscutului. Este vorba despre miscare, caci imi place sa fotografiez din masina, sau din tren, din viteza. Este vorba despre drum, caci imi plac drumurile... si din fericire acesta a fost unul care mi-a placut unde m-a dus, respectiv premiera in Valcea a unei piese de teatru la care am compus muzica. Este vorba despre instantaneu, acel gen al fotografiei in care tu esti doar un observator al mediului inconjurator... asa cum mi-au fost si inceputurile. Fotografiile sunt facute prin geamul lateral al masinii si unele sunt decupate ca sa scot cadrul geamului, sau le-am mai rotit un pic, cu toate ca.. de fel...clar orizontul nu este o linie dreapta. "Son - travaux en cours..."  este muzica la care am lucrat ultima oara si este tot un "instantaneu"...o improvizatie de moment.. o stare. Ea este folosita (nu toata) intr-un film de scurt metraj (12min) al carui montaj final il astept si eu.
( in completarea unui interviu aparut pe blogul Domnului Valeriu Onciu (Dungha Photography) ... respectiv intr-o suita de interviuri denumita generic "Picatura de vopsea" a carei tema principala este pasiunea... si de unde vine ea).
